Farmers Branch-based Centurion American Development and D.R. Horton's Forestar Group, Inc., headquartered in Arlington, are set to construct single-family homes on a 241-acre site in Collin County, near the intersection of Preston Road and Legacy Drive.
According to The Dallas Morning News, the property will feature 750 lots and a 10-acre community park. Situated across from Celina High School and the Athletic Complex, it boasts frontage along Legacy and Louisiana Drives, and is adjacent to a new elementary and middle school complex.
The land was owned by the Moses Hubbard Trust for approximately 140 years before being donated to the Celina Independent School District.
But this isn’t the only development slated for Celina. Local Profile reported in June that a new luxury apartment community recently broke ground in the city. The Depot is set to become a premier living destination featuring 336 Class A apartment units.
Also in June, Centurion announced a 1,050-acre residential development named Bryson Ranch, located between Celina, Pilot Point and Aubrey, along FM 1385. The residential development is located north of Mobberly Road between Lights Ranch Road and Hames. The project will feature approximately 3,000 lots, ranging from 40 to 60 feet, along with 120 townhome lots sized at 25 feet by 95 feet. Builders contracted for Bryson Ranch include DR Horton, Beazer, First Texas, Ashton Woods and M/I Homes.
According to a recent study, Celina stands out as the Dallas metro area’s leading suburb for housing growth, ranking eighth nationally. Between 2013 and 2022, Celina's housing inventory more than tripled, while its population surged by 237%, from approximately 6,400 to 21,500.
However, this surge in popularity has led to significant home price increases, with the average house price in Celina rising nearly 130% over the past decade — more than twice the national growth rate.
