By delving into Zillow's information on pet-welcoming rentals and BARK's data on BarkBox and Super Chewer subscribers, they unveil intriguing insights into where America's furry companions are enjoying their finest experiences.
According to the study, Dallas is the most dog-obsessed city in the U.S. In Dallas, 79% of Zillow's rental listings signal pet-friendliness, well above the national average, rendering it a haven for dog enthusiasts.
BARK reports that favored dog breeds in the area encompass golden retrievers and labrador retrievers. The two most popular names for furry friends in Dallas are Bella and Charlie.
In 2023, Zillow data indicates a notable surge in the importance of pet-friendly rentals, as 59% of renters now have at least one furry friend, compared to just 46% in 2019. Specifically, the number of renters with dogs has risen from 31% in 2019 to 40% in 2023, highlighting a significant shift in housing preferences.
Across the nation, 55% of Zillow's rental listings boast pet-friendly features. However, the cities highlighted in the list surpass this average, showing an elevated level of dog-friendliness.
Among the numerous cities where dogs are living in bliss, two other Texas cities stand out for their remarkable devotion and amenities for canines: Austin and San Antonio.
According to Zillow, 77% of apartments in Austin offer pet-friendly accommodations. Its abundance of trails and lake access renders it a perfect locale for dogs, particularly favored by labradors and golden retrievers. Winston and Charlie are the top names in Austin.
San Antonio also distinguishes itself as an exceptionally dog-friendly city, with three-quarters of rentals open to pets. Predominantly, labradors and German shepherds named Athena and Bailey grace its streets and parks.
