Uchiko Is Now Open at Legacy West, Plano

The new restaurant introduces a bold twist to Japanese cuisine

Hai Hospitality recently unveiled its latest dining destination, Uchiko, at Legacy West, marking a significant expansion of Chef Tyson Cole's culinary vision, renowned for its innovative Japanese cuisine. Located at 7801 Windrose Avenue, Suite H150, Uchiko officially opened its doors on June 18, 2024, inviting patrons to experience a departure from its acclaimed predecessor, Uchi.

Named after the Japanese term meaning "Child of Uchi," Uchiko reflects Chef Tyson Cole's evolution of flavors over a decade since its inception in Austin. "Uchiko has grown into its own identity, driven by our team's passion for culinary experimentation," said Chef Tyson Cole, a James Beard Award recipient in an official statement when the opening was announced. "We're excited to bring our exploration of fire and smoke to Plano."

While Uchi is celebrated for its refined and clean flavors, Uchiko introduces a robust twist with its emphasis on smoke and char. The menu showcases a diverse selection of premium beef from Japan, Australia and the U.S., complemented by a daily assortment of freshly sourced seafood. Signature dishes such as hama chili and A5 hot rock exemplify Uchiko's commitment to bold flavors and innovative techniques.

At the helm of Uchiko's culinary team is Chef de Cuisine Steffen Perico, a Dallas native who brings a distinctive approach to the kitchen. His expertise is complemented by the creative touch of Executive Pastry Chef Ariana Quant, who will be crafting exclusive desserts. The beverage selection includes Japanese whiskies, sake, spirits, beer, wine and crafted seasonal cocktails, rounding out a dining experience that promises to satisfy every palate.

Uchiko welcomes guests from 4-10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and extends its hours until 11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. Daily happy hours from 4-6 p.m. offer a perfect opportunity to explore the curated selection of Japanese whiskies, sake, spirits, beer, wine and seasonal cocktails.
