ShangHai Taste, a beloved Chinatown eatery famous for its xiao long bao, has brought its renowned soup dumplings from Las Vegas to Plano. Since opening its doors in October 2024, the restaurant has been serving traditional Chinese steamed buns daily.
Now, just months later, its James Beard-nominated chef Jimmy Li is preparing to launch a second Plano restaurant this April. STREET will open its doors on April 8, 2025, at 7800 Windrose Ave. in Plano.
What To Expect From STREET
With STREET, Li expands beyond Shanghainese cuisine to showcase the bold, diverse flavors of China’s bustling street markets, elevating classic dishes with premium ingredients and refined techniques.
“It's a huge honor to open STREET at Legacy Hall, Plano’s top entertainment venue," chef Jimmy Li said in an official statement. "I am honored to share my culinary journey with this vibrant community in such a special place.”
A highlight of the menu is guo tie, often called the godfather of potstickers and a street food staple. Chef Li’s take on this beloved dish stays true to tradition while adding his own signature touch, making it a must-try.

Founded in 2019 in Las Vegas' Chinatown, the original restaurant location, led by 2023 James Beard Award semifinalist Jimmy Li, quickly gained popularity for its acclaimed xiao long bao, becoming an instant favorite, even going viral online. ShangHai Taste is located at 109 Legacy Dr suite 120, Plano.
The Plano menu closely reflects the offerings at the Chinatown location, highlighting both traditional and modern xiao long bao. These signature dumplings will be complemented by appetizers like sheng jian bao, scallion chicken salad, along with a selection of soups, noodle dishes and various fried rice options featuring egg, Chinese sausage or other proteins.
