Down to Play (DTP) recently opened in Dallas, offering indoor play, sensory development and socialization for those of all abilities.
DTP, located at 6464 Northwest Hwy Suite 138, boasts a spacious 3,500-square-foot playground featuring engaging play structures and a custom sensory room for kids who need a break. While the playground is designed with special needs in mind, its inclusive environment celebrates and welcomes every child.
The playground caters to children from infancy through elementary school, offering three distinct zones to ensure safety and enjoyment for all age groups. The playground includes dedicated toddler and baby zones, designed specifically to provide a safe and engaging experience for the youngest visitors.
DTP also includes a sensory room designed for kids who need a break or simply want to enjoy a calming environment. This space supports cognitive and sensory development, offers stimulation and encourages socialization, making it a valuable addition for all children.
The facility includes dedicated party rooms ideal for birthdays and other celebrations. In addition to focusing on a safe and inclusive space for children, DTP ensures comfort for parents and guardians with amenities like free Wi-Fi and a coffee bar.
“DTP embraces inclusivity, ensuring that all children can play, have fun, and feel like they truly belong,” a statement from the playground said. “Come visit Dallas’s newest indoor playground for family-friendly fun, laughter and play.”
The playground, owned by Joel and Kelsey Doolen, was inspired by their son, Jimmy, and their daughter, Kendall. Born in 2022 at just 26 weeks and with Down Syndrome, Kendall's early arrival brought a range of developmental and physical challenges. These experiences highlighted the need for a supportive indoor playground in their community. Inspired by their journey, the Doolens decided to create a space where kids of all abilities could thrive.
The Doolen family is dedicated to making a positive impact on the special needs community through DTP, offering families an inclusive environment where everyone can enjoy themselves.
