Summer is still in full swing, but soon students of North Texas will return to their normal schedules and head back to school.

Here’s when North Texas districts go back to school:

Allen ISD

August 7, 2024

The first day of school will begin on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, and end on Friday, May 23, 2025.The first day of school is scheduled for a Wednesday start, which follows the feedback from a majority of respondents from the public survey who preferred a midweek start to the school year.

Teachers will return from summer break on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, which allows for a 66-day summer break for teachers. This follows the same 66-day summer break for teachers in 2023.

McKinney ISD

August 8, 2024

The McKinney ISD calendar starts on August 8 and concludes the 2024-25 school year on May 22, 2025. This year, the school day will be extended by three minutes, allowing two additional student holidays. Two bad weather days are scheduled for April 14 and April 28.

Frisco ISD

August 12, 2023

The school year will begin on Wednesday, August 12, 2024, and end on Wednesday, May 21, 2025. Bad weather make-up days are scheduled for Thursday and Friday, May 22-23, 2025, depending on potential storms.

Dallas ISD

August 12, 2024

Dallas ISD will also return to school on August 12, 2024, and conclude on May 23, 2025. The district adjusted the calendar because the tax-free weekend fell the weekend after the start of the previous 2023-24 calendar. Based on feedback from the 2023-24 calendar, similar adjustments were made to the 2024-25 calendar.

Plano ISD

August 13, 2024

The approved calendar shows a start date of Tuesday, August 13, 2024, and an end date of Friday, May 23, 2025.

To provide teachers with sufficient time for instructional planning, the district is introducing two full days dedicated to this important task. This will be achieved by extending the instructional day by five minutes for preschools, elementary schools, middle schools and Academy High School.

For grades 9-10 high schools and 11-12 senior high schools, the calendar will maintain a 445-minute instructional day. However, the start and end times for these campuses will be adjusted by five minutes.
