Communities Foundation of Texas (CFT) celebrated a record-breaking 16th annual North Texas Giving Day through the support of the North Texas community, sports icons and partners and sponsors.

This year, North Texans contributed $68.3 million to more than 3,000 local nonprofits across 25 cause areas. Since its inception, North Texas Giving Day has raised $634 million, highlighting the community’s dedication to creating positive change.

The cities of Allen, Dallas, Denton, Frisco, Irving, Keller and Lewisville also showcased their dedication to giving back by issuing proclamations designating Sept. 19, 2024, as North Texas Giving Day in their communities.

“We are incredibly grateful for the outpouring of support from the North Texas community for the causes they care about,” President and CEO of Communities Foundation of Texas Wayne White said in an official statement. “Individuals, families and businesses truly showed up for one another. Every donation has a meaningful impact on the nonprofits working to improve lives across our region.”

CFT saw a surge in community engagement this year through its Champions of Giving initiative, with high-profile athletes, sports legends and media ambassadors raising awareness and boosting charitable contributions.

Icons such as World Series Champion and Texas Rangers first baseman Nathaniel Lowe served as a North Texas Giving Day Ambassador and led a star-studded lineup of players and legends from the Dallas Cowboys, Dallas Stars, Dallas Mavericks, FC Dallas and Dallas Wings to drive support for local nonprofits.

“North Texas Giving Day continues to be a powerful demonstration of giving in this region,” said Vickie Yakunin, head of community affairs at Amazon, the presenting sponsor. “On behalf of Amazon and our 29,000 employees here in Texas, we’re honored to put our resources to work supporting thousands of nonprofits. We are grateful for every individual who donated or helped support and amplify the impact of these organizations.”
