All aboard! The brand-new McKinney Downtown Trolley is set to debut on July 5, 2024. The hours of operation are set for Thursday, Friday and Saturday, as well as during special events from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Inspired by the historic Interurban Railway System, the McKinney Downtown Trolley allows residents and visitors to enjoy a picturesque ride through the scenic downtown.

The trolley travels a continuous route along sections of Louisiana Street, Virginia Street, Kentucky Street, Tennessee Street and Lamar Street, with the route subject to change. The cost is free, and the complete route time is approximately 10 - 12 minutes, accommodating up to 14 riders.

While the trolley has official pick-up stops, riders can depart at any point along the route.

Rider guidelines state that the trolley is wheelchair-accessible and Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant. Leashed service animals are welcome to ride with their owner, while bicycles are not permitted on the trolley. Strollers are allowed but must be stowed collapsed and upright. Food and beverages are allowed inside but must not be consumed during the ride.

The current DASH service will no longer be offered. It is being replaced by the McKinney Downtown Trolley, which can accommodate more visitors along the route. The new downtown trolley will not offer tours, but Chestnut Square is located within the cultural district and offers seasonal tours. Learn more about them here.

The McKinney Downtown Trolley is also available for public rental. For inquiries about renting the trolley, please email [email protected]

The McKinney Downtown Trolley was funded through contributions from the McKinney Community Development Corporation, McKinney Main Street (a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization) and hotel occupancy funds.
