Play Frisco Cultural Affairs invites submissions of two-dimensional and three-dimensional artworks that explore the fleeting nature of life and the inevitability of death.

The exhibition encourages artistic expressions that use cultural, humorous and serious symbolism to reflect on the universal themes surrounding Día de Muertos (Day of the Dead).

Titled "Memento Mori" — Latin for "remember you must die" — the exhibition will showcase works that honor the memory of loved ones, celebrate Hispanic heritage and draw both serious and playful connections to the concept of mortality.

All forms of artistic media are welcome for consideration. Each artwork must be framed, wired and ready for display or hanging. Generally, pieces should not exceed 72 inches in any dimension. Artists submitting altar-style works must coordinate with staff and provide either photos of the completed altar or detailed sketches of the structure and installation elements. Please note that no perishable or irreplaceable items are permitted, and candles may only be used if they remain unlit or are battery-operated.

Since the Frisco Discovery Center is a family-friendly venue for all ages, submitted artworks should foster unity and a sense of community. Notification of acceptance will be sent by Tuesday, Oct. 22 or earlier. Artists must submit JPG images of artwork by Oct. 18. Be sure to include your name, email address, title, medium and dimensions of each piece being submitted.

It is free for eligible artists to submit images of up to five artworks. If selected for the exhibition, a $30 entry fee is due by check or credit card prior to load-in, along with a signed gallery guidelines document and artist release form.
