High school seniors who are enrolled in the Advanced Placement Art Program will have their artwork displayed at the The ArtCentre of Plano this April. This annual exhibition showcases the culmination of student artistic growth throughout the art program within the Plano Independent School District.
“The Plano ISD Advanced Placement Art exhibition is always one of our most popular. The students create outstanding pieces that would make a statement in any quality art collection,” ArtCentre Executive Director Suzy Jones said. "The ArtCentre and Plano ISD are extremely grateful to Texas Health Plano for it generous support of this exhibition."
The artwork on display represents the Plano ISD Advanced Placement Studio Program, consisting of AP Drawing, AP Two-Dimensional Design and Advanced Placement Three-Dimensional Design. A variety of work will be displayed, including photography, painting, ceramics and steel sculpture.
"The AP Senior Exhibition is a longstanding partnership between The Art Centre of Plano and Plano Independent School District. The goal of this program has been to provide Advanced Placement (AP) Studio Art Seniors a real world, gallery experience to showcase their voice and individuality via their artwork," said Colin McGrane, Plano ISD Visual Arts Coordinator, K-12. "Each senior enters a single piece that, when combined with others across the district, is always an awe-inspiring show. From drawing and painting to 3D printing and digital media, we always remark how each year the show gets better and better. It is a testament to our fantastic art education staff in Plano ISD and their connection and dedication to growing our present and future artists.”

In addition, studies demonstrate that Arts exposure can improve a teenager’s confidence and academic performance. Art can move, heal, inspire and connect people.
