World No. 1 pickleball players Ben Johns and Anna Leigh Waters announced that they will be suiting up and competing in the upcoming 2023 Biofreeze USA Pickleball National Championships in Dallas next month.
At just 24 years of age, Johns is the having achieving pickleball pro male or female — in PPA history with 104 career gold medals, in addition to being the first player ever to win 100 career titles on the PPA Tour.
Sitting second behind Johns for the most PPA titles is Waters, with 83 in her young career. The 16-year-old phenom has already accumulated 16 Triple Crowns on the PPA, which is tied for the most all-time alongside Johns.
The top-ranked men’s and women’s pickleball competitors will headline a talented pro player field that will be showcased at Brookhaven Country Club in Farmers Branch on Nov. 5-12.
Other notable players who are set to participate include Federico Staksrud, Catherine Parenteau, Tyson McGuffin, Anna Bright, Jay Devilliers, Hurricane Tyra Black, Collin Johns, Irina Tereschenko and many more.
“Brookhaven Country Club will soon be the center of the pickleball universe. This year’s Biofreeze USA Pickleball National Championships features a record-setting prize pot of $200,000. The winning teams in pro gender and mixed doubles will each receive $18,000, while the victorious singles players will each earn over $6,000.
In addition to pro play, the pickleball tournament also features an amateur field of over 3,500 competitors, along with a celebrity match that will kick off the week of action.
