Last month, the most fervent book enthusiasts of Frisco ISD squared off as the Battle of the Books made its comeback following a year-long break.

According to Frisco ISD, the fifth annual event saw a record number of participants, with close to 140 high school students engaging in a sequence of elimination rounds — among them were the library’s most regular visitors.

Last autumn, students from across the district read 12 books sanctioned by librarians and FISD administrators, followed by answering questions about them during the competition. This year, contenders were ready to battle at the Reedy High School library.

Ultimately, a team from Liberty High School emerged victorious over the Panther Creek team in a challenging final round consisting of 30 questions.
