The Water Lantern Festival is set to transform Downtown Plano’s Haggard Park into a mesmerizing spectacle on Aug. 10 and 11. Celebrated for promoting peace, community, connection and love, this event invites attendees to witness the magic of thousands of lanterns reflecting softly upon the water. Ticket holders can enjoy food, music and lantern decorating before setting their illuminated creations afloat.

Named the #1 Festival by USA Today, the Water Lantern Festival is more than just a visual delight; it’s an opportunity for people from all walks of life to come together for an evening of shared experiences and communal bonding. As twilight descends, participants will release their personalized lanterns onto the pond, creating a breathtaking display of light symbolizing hope, love, happiness, healing, peace and connection.

“This Water Lantern Festival creates a beautiful and unique way to share your hopes, dreams and aspirations,” said Nate Sorensen, event director, in an official statement. “It’s a night that you will never forget.”

The festival prioritizes sustainability with lanterns made from eco-friendly rice paper and wood and LED candles that are reused and recycled. After the event, staff diligently clean up all lanterns and surrounding trash, preserving the park's cleanliness.

With a team of seasoned event production experts, the Water Lantern Festival has successfully hosted hundreds of events worldwide, garnering over one million attendees and consistently earning a five-star rating from the Better Business Bureau.

In addition to the lantern release, the festival is family-friendly, offering a variety of activities, food trucks, music and giveaways. It’s also a great platform for local businesses and food truck owners to engage with the community.
