Thought election season was behind you? Think again. This spring, Collin County residents head back to the polls for another important round of decisions. Mark your calendar for May 3, 2025 — and get ready to make your voice heard.

What’s On Celina’s Ballot
This May, Celina voters will decide on 10 ballot propositions proposing amendments to the city charter:
- Proposition A: Allows the mayor to vote on all city council matters, rather than only to break ties, with no veto power.
- Proposition B: Establishes term limits of three terms each for city council members and the mayor, starting May 2025.
Proposition C: Authorizes the city manager to hire and remove department heads and employees, except the fire and police chiefs, who require city council approval. - Proposition D: Removes the requirement for the city attorney to approve all legal documents “as to form.”
- Proposition E: Relocates the "Tax Administration" section to the "Finance Department" section without changes.
- Proposition F: Sets board and commission terms at three years and limits members to three terms, beginning May 2025.
- Proposition G: Adds the city’s website as an official source for public notices and documents.
- Proposition H: Clarifies that city council includes the mayor and six council members, with grammatical corrections throughout the charter.
- Proposition I: Updates specific charter sections to comply with federal and state laws.
- Proposition J: Updates specific charter sections to comply with federal and state laws.
Celina ISD Special Election
- Proposition A: $2.28 billion in bonds for school facilities, land, buses and vehicles, funded by a property tax increase.
- Proposition B: $20 million in bonds for instructional technology, funded by a property tax increase.

Place 3: Scott Bray and Kelly Cavender.

How To Vote
While it’s too late to register, Collin County residents can make sure they are registered here. If you’re registered, there’s only one more step. Vote! Early voting will begin on April 22 and end on April 29. Election day is set for May 3, when residents can cast their ballots for the last time this year.
To be eligible to vote in Texas, you must:
- Be a U.S. citizen
- Be a resident of the county
- Be 18 years old
- Not be a convicted felon (unless a person's sentence is completed, including any probation or parole)
- Not be declared mentally incapacitated by a court of law
