Visit Frisco, the city’s destination marketing organization (DMO), became the first in the United States to have members certified as Corporate Certified Golf Tournament Planners by the Golf Tournament Association of America (GTAA).
This milestone was achieved after a comprehensive educational session on June 19, 2024, at the Omni PGA Frisco Resort, organized in partnership with Meeting Professionals International.
During this session, 20 meeting planners from across the nation, including four members of the Visit Frisco team, engaged in detailed learning about the nuances of hosting and producing various types of golf tournaments. The program encompassed a wide array of topics essential for planning successful events, such as selling sponsorships, recruiting golfers, selecting appropriate golf courses and organizing different tournament formats, games and contests. Additionally, participants delved into the logistics of scoring options, hotel accommodations and food and beverage planning.
The newly certified Corporate Certified Golf Tournament Planners from Visit Frisco include Christina Decker, director of sales; Lisa Bethea, director of destination services; Devon Doggett, destination services coordinator and Lydia Vara-Sebany, destination services coordinator.
“Visit Frisco is proud to have the first DMO member, Christina Decker, to earn the certification and the first DMO Destination Services team to have earned this certification,” reads an official statement.
