A new report named Texas among the best states in the country when it comes to being able to secure concert tickets.

The report, conducted by online gambling directory JustGamblers, ranked every state in the U.S. according to how difficult it was to acquire tickets to highly sought-after concert shows. To put together the rankings, JustGamblers gathered and analyzed data based on the most recent tours of popular artists — such as Taylor Swift and Drake.

JustGamblers then utilized that information to assign each state’s ticket-getting likelihood (on a point scale of 40) based on a number of key factors, including the number of venues visited across 20 of this year’s biggest tours, average venue capacity, how often an act stops in each state and local ticket demand.

Texas received a score of 19 out of 40, which solidified the Lone Star State as the place with the fifth-best odds to be able to purchase admission to popular shows. Sitting ahead of Texas in the top five was the top-ranked California (which sported a score of 23/40) and Illinois (also with a 23/40), followed by Minnesota (22/40) and Florida (20/40).

On the other hand, the five states that were found to have the worst odds of getting tickets were Rhode Island (3/40), New Hampshire (5/40), Delaware (5/40), North Dakota (6/40) and Connecticut (7/40).

“There’s been a lot of discussion lately about the difficulty of securing tickets for tours, especially given complications with platforms like Ticketmaster and the rising prevalence of scalpers," said a spokesperson with JustGamblers. "However, beyond this, it’s clear that some states are at a greater disadvantage than others based on variables like local competition, venue availability, and how frequently a state hosts a show — and, surprisingly, some states are ignored by artists altogether."

Interestingly, no state scored above a 23, which means that no state is able to guarantee attendance to highly-coveted concerts, but the information shows which areas offer fans the best chance to see their dream show, whether that be locally or in a neighboring state.

“This research can help fans decide whether they’re better aiming for tickets in their home state, or if they’re best off considering a road trip — and for some, the answer is obvious,” the spokesperson said.
