As the new school year begins on Aug. 13 in Prosper, Texas, residents and commuters should anticipate increased traffic congestion, particularly in areas surrounding local schools undergoing construction.

According to the town of Prosper's official announcement, significant delays are expected near Rogers Middle School on Coit Road and Reynolds Middle School on Coleman Road, where ongoing improvements are likely to impact daily commutes.

Rogers Middle School will face disruptions throughout the school year, with the front entrance on Coit Road closed for on-site improvements. Parents and guardians will need to drop off and pick up students at the back of the building, while buses will continue to operate at the front.

Similarly, Reynolds Middle School on Coleman Road is also facing access challenges due to roadwork. Parents should use the west side of the campus for drop-offs and pick-ups, entering from Coleman Street and exiting on Eagle Lane. The south side of the building, including the MPF building, will be off-limits for these activities. Buses will maintain their routes on Church Street at the south side of the school.

In addition to school-specific disruptions, broader roadway construction projects are expected to compound traffic issues in the area. The expansion of the Dallas North Tollway will result in lane closures along the northbound and southbound frontage roads, particularly affecting intersections at First Street, Prosper Trail and Frontier Parkway. Traffic delays on Frontier Parkway East of Preston Road are expected to persist until the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) initiates expansion efforts in 2027.

To manage the anticipated traffic challenges, the Engineering and Prosper Police Departments will actively monitor the situation during the initial days of school. Officials urge residents to plan their commutes with extra time, remain vigilant of pedestrians, avoid distractions such as cell phone use and exercise patience. “Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in helping ensure efficient travel for all students, parents, and commuters. Drive safe Prosper and have a great school year!” read the official statement posted by the town of Prosper.
