Long-Term Closure Of Luna Road Bridge Over I-35E In Carrollton, Texas

Beginning Sept. 4, 2024, TxDOT will close the bridge for up to a year

The city of Carrollton announced that the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will close all lanes on the Luna Road Bridge over I-35E in Carrollton, Texas, starting Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2024.

This closure is part of the ongoing I-35E Phase 2 project, which aims to improve the highway infrastructure. The work is scheduled to last approximately 12 months, weather permitting, and completion is expected by September 2025.

During the closure, northbound traffic will be detoured via Belt Line Road to the I-35E frontage road, Whitlock Lane, and Old Denton Road. Southbound traffic will be rerouted through Whitlock Lane, the I-35E frontage road and Capital Parkway to rejoin Luna Road. Motorists are advised to plan for extra travel time due to the detours.
