Fowling Warehouse DFW, the nation’s largest venue for the football bowling pin game “fowling,” announced the launch of its charitable "Fowlanthropy" initiative this week.

As part of its newly-introduced giving program, which will offer support to local charities and organizations, the Plano-based fowling location is organizing a canned food drive in benefit of the North Texas Food Bank.

As a way of supporting the organization, Fowling Warehouse DFW is collecting non-perishable food items and canned goods between Jan. 11 and Feb. 11 — which happens to be Super Bowl Sunday, for football fans out there.

For the drive, Fowling Warehouse DFW says that its goal is to gather 100 pounds of food in total as a way of helping local families facing food insecurity.

Among the most-needed food items, according to Fowling Warehouse DFW, are peanut butter, canned fruit, shelf-stable milk, canned tuna, canned chicken, trail mix and low-sodium canned veggies.

“Our commitment to Fowlanthropy aligns with the spirit of play and giving back, and as the largest fowling venue nationwide, we believe in using our platform to make a positive impact in our community,” said Justin Rojas, guest relations and marketing manager at Fowling Warehouse DFW. “We're proud to partner with the North Texas Food Bank for our first Fowlanthropy event to provide meals to families across North Texas, and we look forward to continued outreach to help a variety of causes throughout DFW as we expand our Fowlanthropy initiatives.”

Donations can be dropped off at Fowling Warehouse DFW (1714 14th Street) during business hours, with contributors receiving a $5 discount on fowling open play. In addition, 10% of Trio appetizer purchases will go towards the North Texas Food Bank.

Results of the food drive will be unveiled via a “weigh-in” by Fowling Warehouse DFW during its upcoming Super Bowl Watch Party on Feb. 11.
