Final Call For 2024 Dallas Vignette Art Fair Submissions

Submit by Aug. 2 for a chance to participate in the event featuring Texas female artists

The deadline is fast approaching for Texas-based women artists to submit their works for the sixth-annual Vignette Art Fair, taking place Oct. 17-19, 2024, at Dallas Market Hall. This juried event, curated by Vivian Li, the Lupe Murchison curator of contemporary art at the Dallas Museum of Art, features works exclusively by Texas women artists.

Artists must submit their entries by Aug. 2, and selected participants will be notified by Aug. 26. The submission fee is $36. For details on qualifications, rules, and instructions, visit texasvignette.org.

The Vignette Art Fair is unique for its submission-based format, exhibition-style curation, and focus on women artists, with 100% of sales proceeds going directly to the artists. The fair is free and open to the public on Oct. 18-19, with a ticketed VIP benefit preview on Oct. 17.

"Texas Vignette received a record number of entries last year, and we anticipate another strong response with Vivian Li as curator," said Jessica Ingle, Texas Vignette founder and president. "Vivian has deep ties to the Texas art scene through her work with the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, and the Dallas Museum of Art. Her expertise supports our mission to uplift dynamic female artists in a male-dominated art world."

Founded in 2017, Texas Vignette addresses the gender disparity in the art world, where female artists are significantly underrepresented in museum exhibitions and galleries. From 2008 to 2019, only 2% of the $196.6 billion spent at art auctions was for works by women.

Participants must identify as women and be current Texas residents. Submission requirements include an artist statement, bio, CV, and a link to the artist’s website or Instagram handle.

The Vignette Art Fair will be open with free admission on Friday, Oct. 18, from noon to 7 p.m., and Saturday, Oct. 19, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The VIP Benefit Preview on Oct. 17, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., will feature live performances, artist and curator meet-and-greets, music and an open bar. Limited tickets for the preview will be available for purchase.
