The city of Allen unveiled a comprehensive revitalization project for Ford Park, a beloved community hub established in 1986. This initiative, guided by significant public input, aims to enhance the park's amenities and better serve local residents with a ribbon-cutting ceremony projected for May 1, 2027.

Ford Park has long been a central recreational site featuring sports fields, tennis courts and playgrounds. As the community's needs have evolved, so too have the calls for improvements. "Ford is one of our older parks in Allen, showcasing both the redevelopment potential and the athletic field aspect that is ready for revitalization," said Parks & Recreation Director Kate Meacham in a video posted by the city. She emphasized the critical role of community engagement in shaping the park's future, noting that the department will work closely with the Allen Sports Association and local residents to gather feedback on desired enhancements.

The master plan introduces exciting new features based on community feedback, including playpods, pickleball courts, tennis court upgrades, a youth activity zone, a new playground, a boardwalk, and additional pavilions and restrooms. The plan also retains existing flex fields for practice and league play, addressing the park's diverse recreational needs.

According to the official website, funding for the project is anticipated to be released within the next two years. Once available, the parks department will collaborate with architects to develop construction plans that reflect the community's vision.

Residents can stay informed about the revitalization progress through the Engage Allen platform, where preliminary renderings and updates are available.
