Electric Garbage Trucks Coming To Denton, Texas

Part of the city’s drive toward sustainable waste management

The city of Denton and its solid waste and recycling department announced a pioneering partnership with Peterbilt and Heil, marking the debut of electric garbage trucks into its operational fleet. This collaboration initiates a pilot project to evaluate the feasibility and benefits of integrating electric vehicles into Denton's waste management infrastructure.

The initiative seeks to assess the practical benefits for drivers and operators and the financial implications of transitioning to electric vehicles. A recent Facebook post shared by the Denton Solid Waste & Recycling Department reads, "This mutually beneficial pilot allows solid waste and recycling staff to not only see whether the trucks enhance the quality of life for our drivers and operators but also to evaluate the financial benefits of integrating electric vehicles into its fleet."

For Peterbilt and Heil, the partnership offers an opportunity to gain real-time insights into their electric trucks' performance on trash and recycling routes. Such feedback is expected to drive ongoing improvements in electric vehicle technology and efficiency.
