The Fort Worth-based aerial entertainment company Sky Elements Drones is on tour across the U.S. with a new holiday drone light show which made a stop at Birdville ISD stadium in North Richland Hills on Sunday, Dec. 17, 2023. In addition to a fantastic, fireworks-free light show in the sky, families gathered in the stadium also witnessed two Guinness World Records being set.
Using almost 1,500 drones dancing in the air, the show creates magical Christmas scenes such as marching nutcrackers, Santa’s elves making presents at the workshop, a giant gingerbread man (called Gingerzilla) and Saint Nick himself flying around the world on his reindeer sleigh.
According to CBS News, at the North Richland Hills show, the company set the “Largest Fictional Character made with multi-rotors or drones" and "Largest Aerial Image made with multi-rotors or drones” world records in one night. The audience was treated to a 12-minute nutcracker-themed show as well as a massive animated Santa.
But this is not the first time Sky Elements Drones broke a world record in North Texas. During the Independence Day celebrations in 2023, Sky Elements Drones broke the record for the largest aerial sentence when its 796 drones wrote “Happy 4th of July 2023” in the air. According to The Dallas Morning News, the previous record was set by the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah tourist authority in the United Arab Emirates in January 2023 with 670 drones spelling out “Happy New Year 2023” in a 12-minute-long aerial show.
Accompanied by fireworks, the 4th of July 10-minute show featured 1,002 drones armed with bright LED lights forming 3D animated trains, planes and even an astronaut and was the largest drone light show ever flown in Texas — until the Christmas show last weekend.
Next, the show will make stops at Miami, FL, Natchitoches, LA and finally at Truckee, CA where the company will close the year with a drone show countdown to 2024.
