The Celina Chamber of Commerce revealed plans for Rodeo Celina at its yearly state of the city meeting on Jan. 23, 2024.

According to the Celina Record, the Greater Celina Chamber Foundation will host the rodeo, featuring classic events such as bull riding, barrel racing, roping and more. A percentage of the proceeds will be contributed to the Celina ISD Agriculture Department and the Celina Future Farmers of America.

“Launching a rodeo is not about the arena we lack, but the spirit we harness," Celina Chamber Foundation board member, Rodeo Celina Executive Committee member and Title Sponsor from Rex Real Estate Caleb Lavey said. "Let’s ride towards our dreams, dust off doubts and raise funds for our youth and start turning our vision into an arena in Celina where champions are born.”

The Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA)-sanctioned event is set to take place from May 31 to June 2 at Southfork Ranch in Parker, Texas. This marks the first PRCA rodeo in Collin County.

“It looks like our dream is finally coming true," Celina resident Punk Carter said. "Having this rodeo is just the beginning of that dream becoming a reality.”

Centurion American donated the Southfork Ranch venue for the event, as confirmed by Chamber of Commerce President Melissa Cromwell to the Celina Record. However, the rodeo's presence at Southfork Ranch is temporary, as the city intends to assess potential opportunities for a future location within Celina.

Southfork Ranch is renowned through the hit television series Dallas for its association with the Ewing Family. Boasting 63,000 square feet of event space, Southfork Ranch stands as a top-tier venue for special events and meetings in North Texas.

Rodeo Celina tickets are on sale now for $20 per adult and $12 per child. Children three and under can get in for free. Parking for the event will be $10, cash only, paid at the gate.
