First Look: Cosm Dallas

Cosm serves up great food and even better views

“I’d rather drive five miles than go all the way to Arlington for a football game,” the man sitting next to us says. “Imagine watching the Super Bowl here.”

Here is Cosm Dallas, which actually isn’t located in Dallas, but at Grandscape in The Colony. With Sports City USA  just a few miles down the road, the country’s second Cosm gives the real sporting event experience even before you enter the doors with lines of excited guests waiting to get their tickets scanned.

Cosm is home to the biggest TV I’ve ever seen. With an 87-foot dome screen, it really feels like you’re in the stadium — even better, it feels like you’re on the field.  Folks lined up before the game to take pictures in front of the screen. Even on a phone camera, it looks like you snuck on the field for a pre-game selfie.

Local Profile visited the new immersive entertainment facility to watch the Tennesee vs. Oklahoma game. Fans from across North Texas donned red and orange jerseys to cheer on their respective teams. Based on crimson flooding the space, it's obvious OU is the favorite among guests. Even if you aren’t a sports fan, it’s easy to get pulled into the excitement.

Not only is Cosm massive, but each floor offers a unique view of the immersive screen. The first floor is closer to a sports bar atmosphere with benches and high-top tables, while the second and third floors feel like a VIP experience with private booths. If you are looking for a quieter evening, the third floor also has a lounge-style seating area with couches, leather chairs and plenty of TVs — all right next to the bar of course.

Local Profile tip: The top floor offers the best view of the game, but the first floor’s sports bar vibe is a blast for a night out with friends.

“This is probably the most popular drink so far,” our server said of the G & Tea. “It’s something a bit different than what you would find at a sports bar.”

Cosm’s G & Tea — a play on the classic gin and tonic, with ginger beer, Limoncello and earl grey simple syrup — is by far the best drink of the evening. It’s especially refreshing as the space heats up from the crowd getting rowdy.

With delicious options like a wagyu smashburger or a hot honey and pepperoni flatbread, the food is far better than most stadium foods. But don’t pass up on the chips and queso — even the simple appetizer exceeded our expectations.

Just a little over a month old, Cosm is still ironing out some of the kinks, but they are making the best experience possible. This isn’t just sports on a giant screen, it’s much more.

(If you suffer from motion sickness, maybe take Dramamine before heading in. Like any kind of sports coverage, the cameras occasionally shake, and the massive screen makes it more noticeable than on a living room TV.)

Cosm's live sports events are supported by partnerships with ESPN, NBA, NBC Sports, TNT Sports, FOX Sports and UFC. Beyond sports, Cosm Dallas will feature performances like Cirque du Soleil’s “O” and immersive art installations by creators such as Nancy Baker Cahill, Guy Reid and Ricardo Romaneiro.
