The Charlotte New American Bistro To Open In Dallas

The restaurant aims to blend old-school charm with a modern touch

The Charlotte, an all-day neighborhood American bistro and bar, is set to officially open on Sept. 30, 2024, at 2822 N Henderson Ave, Dallas.

Curated by Culinary Director Wyl Lima and Operating Partner Kimberly O’Neal, the menu combines sophistication with the comfort of casual dining.

Lima brings nearly 20 years of experience, including roles at Michelin-starred Temporis and Sister in Dallas, blending comfort food with Texas and Southern influences. Known for his innovative yet approachable style, Lima aims to create exciting yet accessible dishes.

The Charlotte’s menu offers American classics with global twists and local ingredients. Featured dishes include biryani spiced wings, charred elote and charbroiled oysters. For mains, guests can enjoy crispy duck, steak au poivre, lamb chimichurri and shrimp and grits.

Pasta lovers will find options like spicy vodka pasta and Cajun truffle mafaldine, while seafood choices include crispy snapper and whole branzino. Handhelds such as the smash cheeseburger and chicken sandwich complete the menu.

“The menu at The Charlotte is an expression of all of our collective experiences and the diverse culinary traditions that shape how we approach food,” said Lima in an official statement. “We’ve woven the comforting essence of Southern cooking with flavors from around the world. Each dish has its own story to tell, and our goal is to evoke a sense of discovery and familiarity simultaneously."

O’Neal, with nearly 20 years of experience, including 11 years at Hillstone Restaurant Group, brings her expertise in hospitality and a passion for delivering exceptional guest experiences to The Charlotte.

“When it came to naming the restaurant we wanted something that truly captured the heart and soul of what we’re creating — a second home for our diners,” said Kimberly O’Neal. “We found inspiration in a childhood memory shared by one of our partners. His mother, Charlotte, was the heart of the neighborhood. She was like a second mother to all the kids, and everyone looked forward to going to Auntie Charlotte’s. Her warmth left a lasting impression, and that’s the feeling we want to bring to the neighborhood — a place where our guests can walk in, see familiar faces and feel like they're at home.”

The Charlotte’s design combines contemporary flair with a warm, welcoming ambiance. Vibrant mint tones and metallic accents complement the wooden details and custom watercolor-patterned upholstery. The 5,800-square-foot restaurant features a full-service patio on both floors. The restaurant’s signature teddy bear motif is subtly woven into the décor.

The Charlotte will be open 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday and Monday, 11a.m  to 12 a.m. Tuesday through Thursday, and 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. Friday and Saturday. Happy Hour is available Monday through Friday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. with crafted cocktails and a curated selection of wines at special prices.
