The highly anticipated Michelin Guide Texas will announce its first round of award recipients at 7 p.m. on Nov. 11, 2024, in Houston at 713 Music Hall. This event will happen yearly for at least three years in the Lone Star State.

“We are delighted to be hosting the inaugural Michelin Guide Texas Ceremony in the vibrant city of Houston,” said International Director of the Michelin Guides Gwendal Poullennec in an official statement. “Together with Houston First, as well as the support of Travel Texas, we look forward to an evening of celebration as we toast to the restaurants that our Inspectors have chosen to award in Texas.”

According to Michelin, Texas boasts award-winning barbecue, locally sourced seafood and steaks and savory Tex-Mex, among other culinary delights. The state's vibrant and sophisticated gastronomic scene highlights culinary talents deeply rooted in Texas culture and influenced by international cuisines from around the world.

“The Texas culinary scene has proven to be an exhilarating one, with multicultural influences, homegrown ingredients and talent that is rich in ambition,” International Director of the Michelin Guides Gwendal Poullennec previously said.  “Foodies and travel enthusiasts alike will find something to enjoy, with such a broad dining scene spanning farm-to-table dishes, fusion cuisine, upscale dining and the famous Texas-style barbecue. Texas is a perfect fit for the Michelin Guide, based on the experiences of our anonymous Inspectors.”

Anonymous Michelin inspectors will award the coveted Michelin stars — one, two or three — for exceptional cuisine. The guide is also famous for its Bib Gourmand selection, which highlights restaurants offering high-quality food at great value. The Michelin Green Star recognizes restaurants that excel in sustainable gastronomy. Additionally, the inspectors highlight recommended restaurants and present special professional awards.

Since The Michelin Guide Texas’ announcement, anonymous inspectors have been in the field, making secret dining reservations and paying for all their meals to ensure they receive the same treatment as any other customer.
