It’s been a year — can you believe it? Firebirds Wood Fired Grill celebrated its first anniversary in Plano, Texas, with continued growth and community support. The upscale-casual restaurant, known for its wood-fired steaks, seafood, and signature cocktails, has quickly become a local favorite. But how?

Building Local Connections

“This incredible community has welcomed us with open arms,” said Eleni Gates, senior director of communications at Firebirds Wood Fired Grill. “We’ve embraced this growing neighborhood, and Firebirds is proud to have developed partnerships in this thriving business community, including with the Plano Chamber of Commerce and Visit Plano’s Taste of Plano foodie program.”

The restaurant’s commitment to building relationships with local organizations is evident, from supporting the Plano High School football team to partnering with the Texas Legends. Firebirds also gives back through its year-round contributions to the Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, supporting local families battling pediatric cancer.

A Flavorful Dining Experience

During a recent visit, Local Profile sampled a three-course dinner priced at $39.95, featuring a side salad, soup, an entrée, and a petite dessert. Entrée options include a grilled sirloin (upgradeable to a filet for $10), grilled salmon and shrimp, and cilantro-grilled chicken. Highlights from the menu also included the signature wood-grilled New York strip, enhanced with roasted garlic thyme butter, and specialties like baby back ribs and Chilean sea bass.

Starters such as smoked chicken wings, lobster spinach queso, and Philly cheesesteak egg rolls added to the indulgent experience, while the Double Black Diamond martini, crafted with fresh pineapple and New Amsterdam pineapple vodka, stood out among the restaurant’s notable cocktails.

Firebirds’ dedication to inclusivity shines through its gluten-sensitive menu options, making it a welcoming destination for a wide range of diners.

Continued Growth

Founded in 2000, Firebirds finished 2023 with 60 locations across 20 states and continues to gain national recognition. In 2024, the brand was named one of Nations Restaurant News' "100 Under 100: Emerging Restaurant Chains," following a year of 14.7% sales growth to $338 million.

Under the leadership of Vice President of Food & Beverage Steve Sturm, Firebirds has built its reputation on its signature wood-fired grill, which imparts bold flavors to its steaks, seafood, and vegetables. Sturm, who has been with Firebirds for 23 years, introduced a new bar bites menu, focusing on shareable appetizers, and has revamped the lunch menu to cater to evolving work styles, including offering a new catering platform for offices.

As Firebirds Wood Fired Grill continues to grow, its focus remains on delivering quality, community engagement, and a welcoming atmosphere. According to Gates, “Our team’s passion lies in building relationships with our friends and neighbors.”
