Prosper’s downtown culinary scene is about to get a whole lot more flavorful. On a chilly February evening, Local Profile attended a Sip and See event hosted by Alora Hospitality Group, marking the kickoff for a new dining destination: 1902 Prosper.
Located at 209 W. Broadway Street, the space — formerly Prosper Wine House and across from The Gin — is set to undergo extensive renovations before its summer debut. The name 1902 honors the year Prosper was founded, connecting the restaurant to the town’s rich history.
Why Does This Matter?
While downtown Prosper has local favs like The Gin and Tavern on Broadway, the addition of 1902 adds another layer of sophistication to the town’s offerings.
“We believe the community deserves an elevated dining experience that has great service, great food and a place to gather,” Jason Young, co-owner of Alora Hospitality, told Local Profile.
During the past decade, Prosper experienced spectacular growth, but the restaurant scene hasn’t quite caught up. As Local Profile previously reported, it was only 10 years ago that 16,000 people called Prosper home, compared to nearly 49,000 now. Moreover, the residents deserve elevated local eats. With an average median income of $187,603 and an average home value of $823,356, Prosper stands out as one of the most affluent and desirable suburbs in North Texas.
Expect more elevated, locally-owned dining options like The Gin and 1902 to come to downtown Prosper.
Meet the Chef
Leading 1902’s culinary efforts is chef Amy DiBiase, a French-trained chef with an extensive resume. A graduate of Johnson & Wales University, DiBiase honed her skills on the East Coast and overseas before running a restaurant group in California. Most recently, she helmed the culinary operations at the Sanderling Resort in North Carolina.
Now, she’s bringing her expertise to Prosper, where the menu will feature fine steaks, housemade pasta, fresh salads and decadent desserts.
“We were confident with our team and our chef that we could execute at a high level and that we can earn people's trust and business,” Young said.

1902: A Vision for Prosper
For Alora Hospitality Group, the decision to invest in Prosper was an easy one. The company saw an opportunity to create a gathering place that blends great food, attentive service and a warm, inviting atmosphere. “We knew this was the right place. This building is stunning — it's a beautiful space,” Young told Local Profile.
The transformation of 1902 is no small feat. Plans include installing a state-of-the-art kitchen, updating interior seating for a cozier ambiance and adding an elevator for better accessibility. One of the first changes? A fresh coat of blue paint to replace the exterior wall — a move that has already won community approval.
Upstairs, a hidden gem awaits: Mary Ann’s Speakeasy. This intimate, Prohibition-era-inspired lounge will offer craft cocktails and rotating entertainment. While details are still under wraps, the speakeasy promises to infuse the main dining experience with a bit of vintage flair.
Looking Ahead
This event was just a glimpse of what Alora Hospitality Group has in store as it continues to expand across North Texas. With additional projects in Frisco, Lewisville and Mansfield, the group is committed to revitalizing historic downtown spaces and shaping North Texas’s dining landscape one venture at a time.
1902 is set to open this summer, pending the completion of renovations.
