Flaky crusts, fierce competition and flying whipped cream? That’s Texas Pie Fest, y’all. The seventh annual Texas Pie Fest returns to Tate Farms in Rockwall on April 26, with more slices, sprinkles and sugar-fueled fun than ever.
Thanks to a GO TEXAN Event Grant from the Texas Department of Agriculture, this year’s event is cranking the oven to high and spreading the word statewide.
More Than Just Pie (But Definitely Pie)

Sure, the star of the show is pie — baked, judged, tasted and eventually hurled in the day’s grand finale. But this isn’t just about dessert.
The schedule is stuffed:
- A pie baking contest with celebrity judges and the always-heated People’s Choice vote
- Live performances from Group Folklorico Dobbs and the NORTEX Square Dancers
- Tasty eats from Fletcher’s Original Corny Dogs and Easy Slider
- Over 50 vendors offering handmade goods, vintage finds and even pie-themed tattoos
Pack a picnic blanket or just follow your nose — food and drinks are available all day, and the farm’s laid-back setup invites guests to linger, lounge and graze.
The Sweetest Showdown In Texas
The day ends with a whipped cream war: a no-holds-barred Pie Fight. Ponchos are available for those hoping to avoid dessert in the eye, while the truly brave can embrace the splatter. The McClendon-Chisholm Fire Department will be on hand to hose down participants and egos.

Why It Matters
“Pie is said to be a great equalizer,” says festival founder Melissa Tate in an official statement. “It crosses boundaries and cultures, ignites conversations and creates comfort for all.” That philosophy is baked into every corner of the event, from its rural setting to its celebration of community and craft.
Also, pie is great.
How to Get There
Tate Farms is about one hour from Legacy West in Plano depending on when you leave. On the way, you can make a few fun stops:
• Lake Ray Hubbard – Great for fishing, kayaking or stretching your legs by the water
• The Harbor Rockwall – A scenic lakeside spot with restaurants, shops and a marina
• Siren Rock Brewing Co. – A nearby taproom with craft brews and food, open daily
Perfect if you want to turn pie day into a full-day adventure.
