With the holiday season coming up quickly, the volunteers of Toys for Tots are gearing up to make sure every child in North Texas receives a new gift during this season of giving. The 2024 giving season for Toys for Tots in North Texas will officially launch on Oct. 17, 2024, with a day full of fun at the Monument Realty PGA District, featuring a special appearance by Santa.

The event starts at 7 a.m. with Frisco Mayor Jeff Cheney and five-time Super Bowl champion Charles Haley to encourage other North Texas mayors to support the cause. Other guests at the kickoff include Mike Stuckey, vice president of the Toys for Tots Foundation; WWF and MMA champion Bobby Lashley; and U.S. Marines in dress blues. Last year, Toys for Tots in Collin County collected over 20,000 gifts, and they hope to gather even more this year.

“Since we opened last year, Omni PGA Frisco has made a commitment to be a strong community partner,” said Jeff Smith, vice president and managing director for Omni PGA Frisco Resort, in an official statement. “We are proud to help create a more magical holiday season for all children in North Texas.”

Also at 7 a.m., supporters and golf fans are invited to the “Golf Par-tee” at The Swing, the Omni PGA Frisco resort’s 10-hole par-3 course. The tournament will start with a shotgun start, and players will compete in teams of four. Participants can look forward to great swag bags and prizes. Registration is $150 per player, and all proceeds will go toward buying toys for less fortunate children this holiday season.

The fun continues at the PGA District at 5 p.m. when Denton Mayor Gerard Hudspeth will accept a challenge from Mayor Cheney. He'll be joined by Santa, his elves and local high school cheer and drill teams. Mascots from several Collin County sports teams, including the Dallas Legends, Dallas Sidekicks and Allen Americans, will compete in a putting contest on the PGA District’s large putting course, the Dance Floor.

The public is welcome to join the free celebration and hang with Mr. Claus. While attending, guests are encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped toy for Toys for Tots, which can be dropped off in one of the donation boxes placed around the Omni PGA Frisco Resort grounds. Guests who buy a toy from Gimme Toys, the toy store in the PGA District, will receive a 20% discount on any item they purchase for the Toys for Tots program.
