At Grandscape in The Colony, you can devour mouthwatering Thai food, sip cocktails at hidden speakeasies, crush your friends at mini golf and even catch some waves — yes, actual waves. But hold on to your hats, because things are about to get even wilder with Fritz’s Adventure making its North Texas debut. And trust us, it’s ridiculously cool.
Local Profile attended a sneak peek this week ahead of the April 2, 2025, grand opening. Here’s what to know before it opens to the public.
What It Is
Fritz’s Adventure at 5651 Nebraska Furniture Mart Drive, The Colony covers a whopping 100,000+ square feet, combining indoor and outdoor thrills that’ll keep you on your toes. Here’s a taste of what’s waiting for you:
- TreeTops zipline course
- Climbing routes
- Multi-level ropes course
- Treehouses
- Extreme slides
- Subterranean tunnels and more!
“Fritz’s Adventure was born from the love my wife and I have for adventuring with our kids,” As Matt Engram, Fritz’s owner and CEO, previously said. “We’re all about giving guests the chance to create unforgettable memories that’ll last a lifetime.”
Who Should Go
Everyone! Fritz’s is the ultimate all-ages playground, with something for every group. Girls’ night out? You bet! Team-building adventure? Absolutely. Family day trip? No question. Got a thrill-seeker? This is their paradise. The place is packed with a maze of ropes courses, rock climbing walls and ziplines that stretch from floor to ceiling — and outdoors too.
Not into heights? No worries! There’s a pit with three warped walls straight out of American Ninja Warrior, plus an underground bunker that’s basically a concrete labyrinth. And let’s not forget the slides — they’re faster than you’ll believe.
Height requirements: most activities have a height requirement of 42-48 inches. Some activities will also require an adult to supervise the smaller kiddos.
Plan Your Visit
Hands down, the coolest thing at Fritz’s is the massive outdoor zipline course. It’s longer than a football field, and it’ll make even the bravest among you clutch your heart a little (but in a fun way, promise!). It’s challenging, but totally doable — even for beginners. That said, this might be a bit tricky for younger kids, and it requires some solid hand-eye coordination and balance, so maybe skip it if you’re more into the "grounded" activities.
Since it’s such a killer course, the line can get pretty long, and it takes about 15 minutes to get through — longer if you count the mandatory training before you soar. Pro tip: do this first to make sure you’ve got enough time for the full experience. Also, this course is weather-dependent — after we finished, they had to shut it down for the night because of some winds and light rain. So, you know, Texas weather doing its thing.
Rest And Refuel
Even the best athletes (and definitely the parents) need a break! Thankfully, each floor has plenty of seating for those who need to catch their breath — and maybe sneak in a snack.
Take a pit stop at the second-floor cafe, where you can refuel with a menu that includes sandwiches, pizza, ice cream, soft pretzels, nachos, bowls, coffee, smoothies, beer, and wine. Basically, everything you need to recharge while still being surrounded by all the excitement.
And if you’ve got dietary restrictions, it’s a good idea to call ahead and make sure they've got something that’ll work for you — because even adventure lovers need a snack that fits their vibe!
