The city of Sachse is introducing a new holiday tradition with its inaugural Trail of Lights, a self-guided citywide holiday lights tour that invites residents to showcase their festive decorations.
This initiative replaces the city’s previous holiday decorations contest, shifting the focus toward an inclusive and accessible event that brings the community together in celebration of the season.
Set to launch in mid-December, the Sachse Trail of Lights map will guide families and visitors through neighborhoods featuring dazzling holiday displays, offering a memorable way to experience the city’s festive spirit. In addition to highlighting decorated homes, the map will also spotlight local businesses offering holiday specials, encouraging residents to enjoy Sachse’s shops and restaurants as part of their holiday adventures.
Holiday light displays have become a beloved tradition in neighborhoods nationwide, offering an enchanting way for families to connect and create memories. The twinkling lights, creative designs and sense of community pride evoke feelings of nostalgia and joy, transforming ordinary streets into magical winter wonderlands. They also provide a shared experience, bringing neighbors and visitors together in celebration of the season.
“After hearing from our residents, we realized that many people value the experience of being able to drive around town with their families to look at the lights,” said Mayor Bickerstaff in an official statement. “Our goal with the Sachse Trail of Lights is to create an opportunity to bring everyone together in the spirit of the season, making it easy for families to enjoy the best of our city’s holiday displays while supporting our local businesses.”
Residents with holiday displays are encouraged to participate by submitting their address and a photo by Dec. 9, 2024. Submissions of all sizes are welcome, making the event a celebration of creativity and togetherness.
