The holidays are the perfect time to give back to the Collin County community. With an array of volunteer opportunities, residents can help those in need all season long.

North Texas Food Bank

The need for food assistance continues to grow and the NTFB needs help to feed members of the community. Volunteers have a range of opportunities from sorting, packing, distributing and more. 

Habitat for Humanity of Collin County

The volunteer needs vary from week to week, but there are several opportunities that the nonprofit frequently needs help with such as family mentoring, administration, home building and more. 

Community Garden Kitchen of Collin County

Community Garden Kitchen offers a versatile facility for preparing and serving meals in a restaurant-style setting. Volunteers can serve in the dining room, sort and weigh food, tend the garden, cook in the kitchen and so much more.

Frisco Heritage Museum

The Frisco Heritage Museum has several ongoing volunteer opportunities such as school tour guides, docents/greeters, staffing for special events and programs and volunteer program assistants. 

Plano Animal Services

Volunteers are essential to creating a positive experience for both the animals temporarily housed at the Plano Animal Shelter and potential adopters. Opportunities include working directly with animals or supporting them indirectly. Volunteers can assist as dog walkers, cat room attendants, greeters and more. All volunteers must be 18 years or older.

Due to the onboarding process, it can take three months to start volunteering, so apply now. 

Frisco Natural Resources Division

The Natural Resources Division has ongoing opportunities including prairie restoration (i.e., invasive species removal, seed ball making/distribution), garden maintenance, stream bank restoration and more. WaterWise - Community Captains work together with the WaterWise team to help advocate and educate on water conservation and other sustainable practices. 

Plano Public Library

The Plano Public Library welcomes volunteers to assist with daily operations, special events, and programming. Due to its popularity, the program often has a waiting list. Sign up online to receive email updates and news about volunteer opportunities for both adults and teens.

Meals on Wheels Collin County

Meals on Wheels Collin County combats hunger and loneliness for local seniors, delivering meals, care and connection. Volunteers support the community through meal delivery, packing and outreach, contributing over 33,135 hours last year alone. 

Plano Parks and Recreation

Parks and Recreation volunteers serve at recreation centers, parks and during special events. Individuals donate their time and talents as cooks, ushers, docents and summer camp support. Parks and Recreation volunteerism is ideal for people wanting to work with a team and interact with members of the community directly.
