City Of Allen Welcomes New Council Members

On June 25, 2024, a special reception was held to honor the newly elected city of Allen Council Members, Ken Cook and Carl Clemencich. Outgoing council members, Dave Cornette and Dave Shafer, were also recognized and honored for their service on the Allen City Council.

During the regular city council meeting, Cook was sworn in as the Allen City Council Member for place 3, and Clemencich was sworn in as the Allen City Council Member for place 5. Additionally, council member Ben Trahan was elected mayor pro tem.

Cook has been an active member of the Allen community since moving there in 2012. He values every resident's opinion and attributes Allen's charm to its community, parks, and amenities.

Cook served on the City of Allen’s Planning & Zoning Commission (2021-2024) and was a member of the 2023 Allen General Obligation Bond Committee. He graduated from the Allen Fairview Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Allen course in 2023 and the Allen ISD Leadership Class in 2024.

With over 25 years of experience in healthcare treating vascular disease, Cook brings a wealth of expertise to his community involvement.

Clemencich has a long history of volunteering in Allen, valuing its community spirit and amenities. Appointed to the Allen Community Development Board in 1996, he later served on the Allen Parks and Recreation Board (2000-2004) and the Allen Economic Development Board (2004-2012). Elected as a Trustee for Allen ISD in 2012, he served until 2017.

He also volunteers with the Allen Citizens Emergency Response Team, Allen Police Department Citizens on Patrol and Habitat for Humanity. He also participated in the Allen Citizens Fire Academy, Citizens Police Academy and Collin County Sheriff’s Office Citizen Academy.

As a certified public accountant with over 30 years of experience in finance and corporate accounting, Clemencich holds a B.S. and M.S. in accounting and an M.B.A. in corporate finance. He has been married for over 40 years and has five children and ten grandchildren.
