On a sunny Saturday in the White Rock Lake area of Dallas, four-year-old Birdie set up her very first lemonade stand. But instead of keeping the $320 she earned, the young entrepreneur chose to donate it all to North Texas Giving Day nonprofits, spreading kindness one cup at a time.

Birdie’s mother, Kimber Westphall Clonts, who is passionate about raising kind and generous children, guided Birdie through the process, turning a simple stand into a lesson in giving back.

At Birdie's lemonade stand, customers weren’t just buying a refreshing drink — they were casting a vote for local causes close to their hearts. She used this as a way to learn more about her community before deciding where to donate her earnings.

Birdie decided she wanted to give the money “to support people who don’t have a home to stay in, especially those who will need a place to stay on Christmas.” The $320 proceeds will go toward local shelters that support people experiencing homelessness, all of which are participating in the Communities Foundation of Texas' North Texas Giving Day initiative.

North Texas Giving Day is Thursday, Sept. 19, but the giving period opened on Sept. 1. To learn more about North Texas Giving Day, or to donate, visit the link here

As of publishing, over $12,000,000 has been raised for North Texas Giving Day 2024.
