Spooky season is here! Immerse yourself in some of the most terrifying adventures North Texas has to offer. Be warned: these haunted attractions are not for the faint of heart.

Dark Hour

When: Sept. 13 to Nov. 2
Where: 701 Taylor Dr, Plano
Tickets

Get ready for one of the scariest haunted houses in the country. Featured in Buzzfeed and USA Today, Dark Hour allows guests to venture into cursed halls, where sinister figures lurk in every shadow. Step into a maze of terror, with state-of-the-art special effects delivering spine-tingling shocks at every twist and turn. Die-hard horror fans can upgrade to a VIP experience, where they have the chance to join the scares by controlling frights from a cozy lounge stocked with snacks, all while watching other guests' reactions.

Haunted Shadows Lake Trail

When: Sept. 28 to Nov. 2
Where: 7801 Main St, The Colony
Tickets

Opened in 2010, the Haunted Shadows Lake Trail stretches just over a mile along the shores of Lake Lewisville in The Colony. The trail is self-guided, offering an immersive experience through dark, eerie woods filled with rustling leaves and the occasional snap of a twig underfoot, all illuminated by the moonlight reflecting off the lake. There’s no guide — just the trail and the chilling atmosphere that hides unseen horrors in the shadows. A PG-rated version is available for families with young visitors to ensure a suitable experience.

The Parker House

When: Oct. 4 to Nov. 2
Where: 8550 West University Drive, Denton
Tickets

With three opportunities and different themes, The Parker House is a haunting experience for all. Step into the hidden world of Mary Parker's murderous mayhem. Explore her living quarters and torturous chambers, then visit the graveyard where her victims met their fate. As you venture into the woods, beware of lurking figures.

Then, join an interactive ride in an attack vehicle to defeat zombies and stop the “outbreak virus.” Use splatter weapons to fight off monsters along the way. Splatter balls for protection can be purchased at the park or before the ride.

New for the 2024 haunt season, the Psycho Circus takes clowning around to a dark and twisted level. Step under the Big Top, where the deranged and toxic come out to play, turning fun into a nightmare of chaos and fear.

Hangman’s House of Horrors

When: Sept. 22 to Nov. 2
Where: 4400 Blue Mound Road, Fort Worth
Tickets

For over 30 years, Hangman's House of Horrors has terrified DFW with the legend of Hezekiah Jones, known as "The Hangman." This year’s theme, "Legends Never Die," brings his story to life. As it enters its 36th season, Hangman’s House of Horrors is set to elevate the fright factor with its namesake attraction and several others, including The Beauty of Horror, OUTBREAK! and Escape Labs Mission Z.
