The Dallas Zoo will implement new summer operating hours from Monday, July 8 to Friday, Aug. 30. The Zoo will open at 8 a.m. and close at 3 p.m., with the last ticketed entry at 1 p.m. This adjustment aims to enhance the visitor experience and ensure the well-being of guests, staff, and animals by reducing exposure to the late afternoon heat.
The new schedule coincides with several exciting attractions and events at the zoo. Visitors can enjoy the recently installed permanent mister fans located at six major habitats, which provide much-needed relief from the Texas heat. Additionally, the popular "Destination: Dinosaurs Presented by Reliant" exhibit will be available through September, offering an immersive experience with one of the country's largest dinosaur displays, best experienced during the cooler morning hours.
The zoo also updated its wild explorer VR experience, where guests can embark on virtual treks with gorillas, explore the Serengeti, swim with humpback whales, and dive with sharks. These engaging activities ensure there is something everyone can enjoy during their visit.
The Dallas Zoo will host two dollar days on Thursday, July 18, and Tuesday, Aug. 6. Admission will be just $1, with special deals on snacks and beverages at pop-up areas throughout the Zoo. While tickets for the July dollar day are nearly sold out, many are still available for the August date. Visitors are encouraged to purchase tickets online promptly to take advantage of these special offers.
Renowned for its commitment to animal conservation and education, the Dallas Zoo has been consistently named one of the nation’s Top 10 Zoos by USA Today. It is the largest zoological experience in Texas, featuring a 106-acre park with over 2,000 animals, interactive keeper chats, and numerous educational programs. Accredited by the Association of Zoos & Aquariums since 1985, the Dallas Zoo is dedicated to creating a better world for animals.
