Learning is fun! Especially when you are learning about giant dinosaurs.

 T. rex: The Ultimate Predator, a new exhibit at the Perot Museum of Nature and Science, isn't only filled with interesting fossils and highly realistic recreation of the apex dinosaur predator, it's also filled with facts. And we love facts.

Here are ten interesting things we learned at the Perot's T. rex exhibit. Maybe you already knew this stuff. We — rather, I — didn't!

  • Tyrannosaurs ran from the teeny Proceratosaurus to the big and brawny T. rex
  • New Tyrannosaur species are discovered every year
  • T. rex was a cannibal and would eat other T. rex
  • No T. rex older than 28 years old has been discovered
  • The T. rex is found only in the U.S. and Canada
  • The Giganotosaurus and Carcharodontosaurus were about the same size as the T. rex — or bigger
  • 30 to 50% of T. rex poop is crushed bone
  • T. rex could pulverize and digest solid bone — a rarity for species on Earth
  • The original "tripod" pose for T. rex is wrong
  • Small tyrannosaurs like the Dilong were covered completely in feathers

Interesting!

As mentioned above, the exhibit runs through September 22, 2024. For more, including ticket pricing, check the exhibit's official page
