Visit Frisco, the city’s dedicated marketing and tourism organization, celebrated its 20th anniversary during the month of October.

As part of the commemoration, Visit Frisco turned back the clock and revisited past milestones, which includes two decades of driving economic growth in the area through tourism.

The organization began its journey back in 2003, a time when Frisco was making significant strides towards growing the city, including debuting the Texas Tornado hockey team’s home facility, the Deja Blue Arena (now the Comerica Center). During that year, the city made the decision to establish a convention and visitor’s bureau, which would go on to become the Visit Frisco that the community knows today.

Throughout the years and all of the changes the city has undergone, Visit Frisco’s mission remained steadfast: to highlight Frisco as a premiere destination for meetings, sports events, conventions, and leisure travel — making a positive impact on the city's economic foundation in the process.

The organization’s impact speaks for itself, having helped contribute over $705 million to the local economy. This can be attributed to the 1,937 meetings and events and 812,278 hotel room stays that Visit Frisco has booked over the years, the organization says.

To put the growth in perspective, the organization says that in its early years, it would book one meeting and 485 hotel rooms a month on average. However, this past fiscal year, Visit Frisco says that it averaged 20 meetings and events and 10,614 hotel rooms, exemplifying the increased impact of the organization over the last couple of decades.

The visitor center credits its success to teamwork, collaborations with the city, hotel partnerships, arts and culture, as well as the city’s world-class sports facilities.

“It’s inspiring to look back at what the last 20 years of tourism in Frisco has brought in terms of positive impact to the city, the landscape, residents, and hotels,” said Marla Roe, executive director of Visit Frisco. “You can’t help but continue to be excited about the developments, events, and expanded partnerships budding right now that will carry us into the future.”

As part of its 20th anniversary, Visit Frisco released a timeline video, which can be viewed on the organization’s YouTube channel.
