Lane closures are now in effect on Belt Line Road as part of Dallas Area Rapid Transit’s (DART) ongoing Silver Line Regional Rail Project. Beginning Nov. 15, 2024, these closures will continue in three phases until Jan. 6, 2025, weather permitting, near the intersection of East Belt Line Road and Volley Drive.

Construction Schedule

The closures, aimed at facilitating utility installations and rail construction, will be carried out as follows:

  • Phase 1: The westbound lane at E. Belt Line Rd and Volley Dr. closures began Nov. 15 and will continue through Dec. 6.
  • Phase 2: Full lane closures at Volley Drive are scheduled from Dec. 12 through Dec. 16.
  • Phase 3: The westbound lane at E. Belt Line Rd. and Volley Dr closures will resume from Dec. 16 until Jan. 6, 2025.

Drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes and follow posted detour signage. Cleanup efforts, including street sweeping, will be maintained throughout the project to ensure safety and accessibility.

Impact Of The Silver Line

The Silver Line is a 26-mile regional rail corridor designed to connect DFW Airport to Shiloh Road in Plano. Traversing seven cities — Grapevine, Coppell, Dallas, Carrollton, Addison, Richardson and Plano — the line aims to enhance mobility, accessibility and connectivity for northern Dallas County and Collin County residents.

Once completed, the Silver Line will integrate with DART’s existing Red, Orange, and Green light rail lines, as well as TEXRail and DFW Airport’s Skylink system, providing seamless transit across North Texas.

Silver Line Progress

Residents and commuters have become familiar with the Silver Line trains over recent months. DART has been running simulated test routes between Shiloh Road Station in Plano and the University of Texas at Dallas Station in Richardson. Testing along other parts of the 26-mile line, stretching from Plano to DFW Airport, will continue until the service launches in late 2025 or early 2026.
