Police Rescue Loose Cow In Plano, Texas

The cow was returned to her owner

Plano, Texas may not be the wild west the way it used to be, but local police officers still have the skills to wrangle cattle.

On July 7, 2024, at approximately 7 p.m., Plano police received a call that a loose cow was strolling down the street near State Hwy 121 and Ohio Drive.

“Although the grass appeared greener on the other side it was only a matter of time before our city folks called her in,” Plano Police Department said in a Facebook post. “And like true Texans, our public safety officers wrangled the young cow from the wild west of the road and assisted her in finding her way home.”

Public Information Office Jennifer Chapman told Local Profile that police returned the cow to owner Nickey James at his farm along EB 121 Service Rd in between Ridgeview and Coit.

It’s not clear how the cow made her great escape, but she seemed to enjoy her time wandering the streets of Plano, munching on some grass snacks along the way.
