Plano Texas Police Introduces Its Newest Canine Recruit

The dual-purpose German shepherd stands ready to serve the community of Plano

The Plano Texas Police Department introduced Kain, a dual-purpose German shepherd, as its newest recruit on April 26, 2024. Acquired by the department on Oct. 2023 from a reputable Texas police and military dog vendor, Kain underwent rigorous training and certification before joining the force alongside his handler, K-9 Officer Seed.

Certified by The National Narcotic Detector Dog Association, Kain is trained in narcotics detection and patrol deployment, including building searches, criminal apprehension, obedience and area searches. He also excels in tracking fleeing suspects and conducting searches.

Born in Hungary in January 2022, Kain was later transferred to a police dog trainer in The Netherlands before being selected as a candidate for police service in the United States.

The Plano Texas Police Department shares in a Facebook post that Kain's toy preference is a Kong, and he harbors a fondness for an unconventional treat: lettuce.

Welcome to the Plano Kain!
