In January 2024, Plano Independent School District (ISD) was selected as a semi-finalist for the prestigious H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards, which honor exemplary public school professionals.

From over 1,900 applications submitted by educators across Texas, only 25 districts advanced to the regional judging stage. The judging panel comprised former award recipients, school administrators and leaders from universities and communities.

The H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards program, established in 2002, recognizes and rewards the dedication and commitment of outstanding public school educators. By investing in students and their communities, H-E-B aims to inspire others to contribute to educational excellence. Since its inception, the program has allocated more than $14 million in funding to exceptional Texas teachers, principals, public schools and districts, school counselors, school boards and early childhood centers.

As a semi-finalist, Plano ISD received gift cards worth $1,000 from H-E-B, acknowledging its significant educational contributions. The 2024 Excellence in Education Awards winners were announced in early May.

“Thank you to H-E-B for your support towards education and educators in Texas!” read an official statement shared by Plano ISD.
