On Dec. 3, 2024, the Frisco City Council will consider initial plans for the highly anticipated Universal Kids Resort and the upcoming hotel.
Here is a first look at the concept art:
These plans have yet to be officially approved by the Frisco City Council.
What Could Be Approved
During the meeting, the council will be presented with a facade plan for the resort's hotel. The facade plan will feature:
- A detailed architectural drawing of the exterior front of the building.
- Key design features such as windows, doors, materials and finishes.
The five-story hotel, designed by the architectural firm Gensler, is under construction at the northeast corner of Dallas Parkway and Panther Creek Parkway. The hotel's design is pending review and approval by the council tonight.
What We Know So Far
On March 7, 2023, the Frisco City Council voted 4-2 to approve the theme park in Frisco. The council granted the request for a Special Use Permit (SUP) for a 97.4-acre outdoor commercial amusement venue at the northeast corner of Dallas Parkway and Panther Creek Parkway. Of this, 30 acres will be designated for the theme park, with additional acreage allocated for parking and the hotel space.
"Universal Kids Resort will inspire the unbridled creativity of kids through imagination, discovery and most importantly — play," previously said Molly Murphy, president of Universal Creative. "We're designing the resort so kids and families can feel the thrill of being physically immersed in their most beloved stories and characters."
How Universal Kids Resort Could Impact Collin County
Universal Kids Resort will drive immediate economic impact for the region, creating thousands of jobs including more than 2,500 new construction jobs. Throughout the development, the company is committed to ensuring that the resort adds value and positively serves the community. The resort will also greatly impact tourism, which as Local Profile previously reported, is already increasing prior to the resort.
