Celebrate The Solar Eclipse In North Texas

North Texas will have a partial view of the annular eclipse on Saturday, Oct. 14, 2023

On Saturday, October 14, 2023, an annular solar eclipse is set to traverse North, Central and South America, providing visibility in various regions of the United States, Mexico, as well as numerous countries across South and Central America. 

According to NASA, when the Moon comes in front of the Sun it will be further from the Earth making it look smaller than the Sun, allowing that incredible ring of light (or annulus) to shine through. And while our fellow southern Texans will have the best view of the annulus, North Texans will still have a great view of the celestial event.

Here’s where to celebrate:

The Westin Dallas Stonebriar Golf Resort & Spa

Where: 1549 Legacy Dr, Frisco
When: 6:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.

Indulge in the enchantment of the solar eclipse during this exclusive brunch on the picturesque outdoor patio. A delectable spread of smoked salmon, grazing tables, omelet stations and more will be available for guests.

Beyond the Bar 

Where: 101 S. Sherman St., Ste. B Richardson
When: 11:00 a.m.

This Saturday, join Beyond the Bar, a non-alcoholic bottleshop, for a viewing party at 11 a.m. — just in time to grab an alcohol-free beverage before the main event at 12 p.m. For just $10, guests will receive a pair of ISO-certified viewing glasses along with a refreshing NA choice of a gin or tequila sunrise featuring your preference of Trejo Spirits Tequila Alternative or Ritual Gin Alternative. 

Perot Museum of Nature and Science  

Where: 2201 N Field St, Dallas
When: 8:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

Bright and early, the Perot Museum will be hosting a special collaboration with the Carnegie Institution for Science. Join fellow astronomers and enthusiasts alike for an event full of live music, interactive STEM activities, games, and of course, a viewing of the solar eclipse. 

Food will be available for purchase through several local food trucks, but guests can also bring their own food and drinks to the picnic area. The Museum Café will also have special eclipse-themed snacks available for purchase, including beer and wine options. 

Frisco Library 

Where: 8000 Dallas Pkwy, Frisco
When: 11 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

Come and be a part of the 2023 annular eclipse viewing event hosted by the Frisco Library. In Frisco, you can anticipate approximately 80% partial eclipse coverage. Please note that a limited supply of solar viewing glasses will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis, so be sure to arrive early to secure your pair. 

The Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden

Where: 8525 Garland Road, Dallas
When: 10:00 a.m - 1:00 p.m.

What better way of safely looking at the partial eclipse than surrounded by the beauty of Dallas Arboretum’s park. Solar eclipse glasses will be available with your admission order, but be quick! Tickets are limited and must be purchased in advance. 

Roy & Helen Hall Library

Where: 101 E. Hunt Street, McKinney
When: 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

The Roy & Helen Hunt Library is throwing an Eclipse Encounter party for all ages! Get your free eclipse glasses at the library and be a witness to the awe-inspiring event. After the eclipse, stay around and keep exploring the wonders of the universe through hands-on crafts and activities and learn all about NASA’s latest missions.
