Alamo Drafthouse Cinema announced that all its theaters in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and the Twin Cities, including Cedars, Denton, Lake Highlands, Las Colinas and Richardson will reopen by the end of August.

This follows the franchisee's Chapter 7 bankruptcy filing and subsequent acquisition by Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE), as previously reported by Local Profile.

The reopening schedule is as follows:

- Richardson – Aug. 9

- Lake Highlands – Aug. 13

- Cedars – Aug. 16

- Denton – Aug. 20

- Las Colinas – Aug. 23

Several theaters will also receive significant upgrades. By Labor Day, the Richardson location will feature a new auditorium, The Big Show, equipped with 4K laser projectors and Dolby Atmos sound. Las Colinas will introduce premium recliner seats and 4K laser projectors by Spring 2025.

On July 23, Alamo Drafthouse will host a hiring fair for past employees at the Lake Highlands and Woodbury locations. This event aims to address lost wages and offer first access to open positions. Rehired employees will benefit from an enhanced benefits plan, including daily pay access, a substantial 401(k) match, paid medical leave, accrued paid time off (PTO) and free mental health services.

“Our number one goal throughout this difficult period has been to do right by the former teammates and get back to providing the exceptional cinema experience our guests deserve,” said Michael Kustermann, CEO of Alamo Drafthouse in an official statement. “We’re thrilled to say that the goal is in sight and that we’ll have teammates and guests back in those theaters very soon.”

Each reopened location will feature a two-week soft opening celebration, offering $5 tickets for all shows and a 25% discount on select food and beverages. The programming lineup includes anticipated films such as Deadpool & Wolverine, It Ends with Us, Alien: Romulus and Blink Twice. Guests who had purchased tickets before the shutdown will receive free ticket rainchecks via email, and previously purchased merchandise for Inside Out 2 and Deadpool & Wolverine will be distributed during the soft opening period.

Season Pass members affected by the closure can reactivate their accounts and receive two months free once tickets for their preferred theater go on sale.
