There has never been a fall when boots exclusively prevail front and center. And then front and center again. If you love boots, now is your time to shine. The multifarious styles are extraordinary with varied styles and heights.
The Height
The first task in selecting boots is determining height and heel. Are you interested in ankle booties, boots to the knee or
really tall boots? What height works for your lifestyle? Are you planning to wear your boots to work or will they be used for evening events? Booties are a great choice for day; they are comfortable and can be worn with dresses, skirts, and pants. Mid calf boots work similarly to ankle boots; determine which style is flattering to you. Knee high boots are a good choice for day as well; they also look good with dresses and skirts; they also look good when pants are tucked into the boots; jeans look great with knee highs. Over the knee boots can be a little cumbersome when walking; for evening, they are a cool look.
The Heel
+What height heel are you comfortable wearing? Of course, the taller the heel, the more attractive the look. However, flat, low and medium heels are more popular because they are more comfortable and practical. If you’re uncomfortable or are struggling to walk, that’s not a good look, so no matter how beautiful the boot, it’s important to balance comfort with style.
An easy rule of thumb is to wear a heel of three inches or less for the office, while four to six inch heels work well for after-work cocktails, dinners and parties.
The Style
Other choices to consider are whether you gravitate to leather or suede and whether you want a pull-on or a side zippered boot. This is completely up to you, so embrace your own personal style. Although it’s good to remember that suede can get ruined in the rain, and if you struggle taking boots on and off (if you’re pregnant for example), a zip will certainly be preferable to a pull-on.
The Fit
When you have determined what kind of boot you want, you need to be sure you are selecting the correct size; look for a good fit in the ankle and the calf. Calf circumference should be considered so that there is no bunching with a smaller calf and no overly stretched leather with a larger calf.
Now you’ve got the tools to make a fashionable decision; happy shopping!
