Villa Azur has a new corporate executive chef. The French hospitality brand known for upscale Mediterranean dining hired Vincent Catala, which they say will elevate their commitment to excellence and authenticity.
Catala is from the south of France where he inherited his love for gastronomy from his great-grandmother. The distinguished chef has over two decades of experience both in his homeland and abroad. Villa Azur believes Catala will use menu innovation, quality control, team leadership and community engagement to ensure every dish is a work of art.
Co-owner of Villa Azur, Jean-Philippe Bernard, said the restaurant group is honored to have Chef Vincent joining the team. “His culinary finesse reflects the rich tapestry of Mediterranean flavors and a harmonious blend of tradition and innovation — he is the natural embodiment of the culinary philosophy and prowess that resonate with the heart of Villa Azur,” said Bernard.
Catala spent time in some of the most renowned French establishments as a kitchen and pastry chef, boasting Michelin stars ranging from one to three. He’s also worked as an educator in a prominent International French Culinary School in Miami and appeared in magazines and on television programs. He holds the esteemed title of chef ambassador for North America's French Dessert Championship.
“It is a privilege to embark on this new journey at Villa Azur and be reminded of the profound influence my heritage has had on my passion for food,” said Catala. “Just as the vines of a vineyard draw from their roots to produce the finest grapes, I draw from the rich tastes and colors of Mediterranean cuisine — I would like to invite our guests to experience the diverse flavors of the world on a plate.”
Catala is also expected to spearhead Villa Azur’s sustainability initiatives, including sourcing ingredients from local and sustainable suppliers and reducing its environmental footprint.
Villa Azur is located in the W Dallas - Victory hotel.
