Monarch, the wood-fired Italian restaurant in Dallas, will host an exclusive Pappy Van Winkle Dinner on Thursday, July 11, 2024. Led by two-time Michelin-starred chef Danny Grant, the event promises a gourmet four-course meal paired with select pours of Pappy Van Winkle bourbons, including 10, 12 and 13-year vintages. Attendees may also opt for a 20-year pour for an additional $200 per person.
Recently, Monarch held a pairing dinner with IWA sake by legendary drinks maker Richard Geoffroy. Local Profile sat with Geoffroy, who was chef de cave at Dom Pérignon for 28 years and has now turned his attention to sake.
This new event allows guests to savor the Pappy Van Winkle bourbons, celebrated for their intricate flavors and long aging process. The Pappy Van Winkle’s Family Reserve and its other offerings are known for their smooth, refined character achieved through decades of careful maturation.
The evening's menu is designed to complement the bourbons, starting with an amuse-bouche of heirloom tomato tart with smoked peppers, gazpacho and osetra caviar. The first course features Texas wagyu carpaccio with horseradish cream, truffle and rye vinaigrette and seeded lavosh, followed by fire-roasted Texas peach with burrata di bufala, arugula and aged balsamic. The second course includes lasagna Diane with baby meatballs, ricotta and a cheese crust. For the third course, guests will enjoy bourbon-glazed rosewood wagyu short rib, accompanied by Yukon potato croquette and wood oven-roasted corn. Dessert is a decadent chocolate mousse with salted caramel and toasted hazelnuts.
The dinner costs $600 per person, with the optional upgrade bringing the total to $800 per person. Seating is communal and early booking is recommended due to limited availability. The dinner will take place at Monarch, located at 1401 Elm Street, 49th Floor, Dallas, Texas 75202, starting at 6:00 p.m.
